On September 7, 2024, the "You and Me, Together on the Road of Fighting Against Cancer" China Anti-Cancer Association the “Belt and Road” holistic, integrative oncology training base (Guangdong) International Volunteer Service Center Cancer Prevention and Anti-Cancer Sharing Session of Vietnam was successfully held in St. Stamford Modern Cancer Hospital Guangzhou. Cancer patients and their families from Vietnam came to the conference room early to share their anti-cancer experiences and spent a relaxing and enjoyable afternoon.
Ms. Liang, a breast cancer patient from Vietnam, shared her anti-cancer experience at St. Stamford Modern Cancer Hospital Guangzhou as the "Anti-Cancer Star Volunteer" of this event.
Ms. Liang underwent surgical resection for right breast cancer in 2012 and again in 2021. Unfortunately, her condition relapsed, leading to multiple metastases, including in the left breast and lymph nodes. In August of that year, she had another surgery. However, three years later, the disease returned, and in January 2024, Ms. Liang developed new metastases in her chest wall and brain. In May, she sought comprehensive minimally invasive treatment at St. Stamford Modern Cancer Hospital Guangzhou.
"It has been almost 13 years since I first suffered from cancer, during which I have suffered a lot from the recurrence of the disease, and these 13 years have been a harrowing and difficult time, but today, I still came to St. Stamford Modern Cancer Hospital Guangzhou and received active treatment here. I hope that all of us here can also face cancer with a positive attitude, If we don't fight, there is no hope of victory, and I hope we can all see the dawn of victory! ”
Patients share their experiences
After the sharing session, Ms. Liu Yansheng, Assistant Director of the International Affairs Department of St. Stamford Modern Cancer Hospital Guangzhou, presented Ms. Liang with an honorary certificate of anti-cancer star volunteer and presented a gift to thank her for her selfless sharing of her great love and positive encouragement to other patients.
Mr. Ruan, a patient with gastrointestinal mesenchymal tumors, shared that he was a fitness trainer before falling ill. After receiving his diagnosis, he experienced significant weight loss. By the time he arrived at St. Stamford Modern Cancer Hospital in Guangzhou in October 2023, he weighed only 49 kg and had a tumor measuring approximately 30 cm. After undergoing comprehensive minimally invasive treatment, the tumor shrank to just 7 cm, and he managed to gain weight, bringing him up to 65 kg. Although he still feels weak, he is pleased with his progress. Mr. Ruan also expressed happiness about being able to gather and converse with others from Vietnam, and he is grateful to the hospital for organizing such an event.
Many patients have shared the problems they have faced and the hard work they have put into fighting cancer all the way, and this event has provided them with an outlet to comfort each other, pack up their moods, strengthen their confidence, and face the future!
Sharing experience
To eliminate many misunderstandings about the diet of cancer patients, we also invited the dietitian of our hospital to explain the nutritional knowledge of anti-cancer to the patients and their families.
