In March, the spring in Guangzhou is expected to be cold, but the patient activity center on the fourth floor of Modern Cancer Hospital Guangzhou is warm. On the afternoon of March 7th, a Women's Day activity with the theme of "Warming Her Heart in Spring, Moving Forward with Sunshine" used a unique way of art healing to weave a warm memory of spring for female patients who are receiving treatment and the female family members who accompany them.

The pink carnations are passed down to hospitalized patients and families. Every petal seems to be soaked in the blessings of morning dew, blooming with everyone's smile. Next to the wishing wall, different languages are intertwined, telling the best wishes in the world together.

At the event site, pristine white round fans intermingled with colorful paints, creating a vibrant tableau. More than forty patients gathered around the tables, focusing intently as they embarked on this journey of artistic healing. Mixing colors, outlining, and shading—with each stroke of the brush, vivid images of flowers and birds came to life on the fans. Ms. Wang, a breast cancer patient, gently waved the fan she had painted and smiled, saying, "Since I started treatment after falling ill, time has never flown by as quickly as it did today. For this one hour, I felt a long-lost sense of peace."

At the neighboring table, the DIY twisted flower area, with its higher level of difficulty, deterred many participants. However, a family member of a Vietnamese patient courageously took on the challenge. Blue and pink twisting rods danced in her hands, gradually and patiently shaped into petals, eventually woven into a beautiful tulip. She smiled and said, "Looking at this everlasting flower, it feels like I have a bit more confidence in the treatment."

Not far away, handcrafted wind chimes jingled and danced beneath the corridor. Each chime was adorned with a message of blessing, and as the spring breeze swept through, they seemed to sing a melody of recovery.

As each fan painting was completed, the women, deeply engrossed in their artistry, seemed to become part of another beautiful tableau. They sat together in a circle, engaging in conversation and heartfelt exchanges. The air was filled with the creamy scent of egg tarts and the sound of their joyous laughter. Outside, the cold snap raged, but inside, the mercury in the thermometer had already climbed to the warmth of spring, driven upward by the continuous peals of laughter.

This springtime gathering within the white walls of the hospital serves as a vivid testament to Modern Cancer Hospital Guangzhou's philosophy of "healing the body and the soul." As a significant practice within the hospital's humanistic care service system, this thematic event uniquely combines art therapy with psychological counseling. Ms. Liu Yansheng, Assistant Director of the International Affairs Department, expressed, "While we implement minimally invasive treatments such as interventional therapy and seed implantation, it is equally important to focus on the emotional recovery of our patients." When integrated minimally invasive treatment meets humanistic care, and when medical technology encounters art therapy, life finds a poetic fulcrum in its struggle against illness. Amidst the cold snap, Modern Cancer Hospital Guangzhou is using the warmth of humanistic care to melt the icy grip of disease. These artistic blossoms that emerge in the intervals of treatment not only allow patients to rediscover the beauty of life but also affirm the true essence of medicine: "to cure sometimes, to relieve often, to comfort always."

On the occasion of Women's Day, I hope that every "she" who fights against the disease can hear the sound of flowers blooming, and there will always be a spring breeze on the journey through the cold winter of life.
