Hospital selection: the key to success in fighting cancer

"Choose the right hospital!" - This is the answer I blurt out when someone asks me why my mother was able to fight cancer successfully.

After going through a tortuous journey of seeking medical treatment, I deeply understand that choosing the right hospital is the starting point of the patient's fight against cancer and the key to success or failure.

Misdiagnosed for 8 years: My endless struggle with breast cancer

Before telling my mother's story, I must first share my experience because this is the original reason why I decided to bring my mother to Guangzhou for medical treatment. In 2005, I found lumps in both breasts, and then I started repeated examinations for 8 years: palpation, ultrasound, breast X-ray, but there was no clear result after repeated examinations. It was not until 2013 that I was finally diagnosed with breast cancer, and the doctor recommended that I take the "mastectomy + chemotherapy" treatment plan. I underwent the operation in a panic. However, after waking up from anesthesia, the doctor told me shocking news: I didn't have cancer at all.

Anger and fear intertwined, making it difficult for me to calm down. Angry at the reckless misdiagnosis and fearful of the fragility of life. There are so many cancer patients, is my experience just an example? Isn't misdiagnosis the driving force behind the high cancer mortality rate? For patients, physical pain is bearable, but psychological trauma is difficult to heal. Patients’ lives are fleeting like candles in the wind without reliable medical protection.

2019: The Miraculous Journey of Choosing Modern Cancer Hospital for My Mother

In 2019, my mother's breast cancer unfortunately recurred. Facing the heavy prediction of "only three months left" from many famous local doctors, I was filled with worry and fear. Given my past tortuous treatment experience, I had lost trust in local hospitals in Thailand and was swallowed up by despair every day. Until I learned about St. Stamford Modern Cancer Hospital Guangzhou on the Internet, I decided to take my mother there to seek new hope in minimally invasive treatments.

This time, the medical experience was completely different. I was deeply impressed by the "meticulousness" and "rigorousness" of the doctors. My mother recalled that the doctors were extremely meticulous in both palpation and ultrasound examination and repeatedly confirmed that the ultrasound examination took more than an hour. In all diagnosis and treatment, the doctors strive for excellence. The intravenous port that is still in the mother’s body was inserted by Professor Dai Wenyan personally in 2019. Even when she returned to Thailand for medical treatment, local doctors were full of praise for her superb skills.

What left a particularly deep impression on me was that before the formal treatment began, the doctors not only conducted comprehensive professional examinations but also thoroughly inquired about and recorded my mother's basic medical history and her treatment experiences in Thailand. Especially considering her advanced age, they meticulously crafted the most suitable treatment plan. After all the examination results were available, the attending physician, Professor Dai Wenyan, convened a MDT of experts to explain the results in detail to us and to develop a personalized minimally invasive treatment plan. The treatment was only officially implemented after we gave our consent. To this day, my mother continues to follow the postoperative treatment plan that was tailored for her six years ago by St. Stamford Modern Cancer Hospital Guangzhou.

Six-Year Miracle: Thanks to Modern Cancer Hospital for its Guardianship

As we step into 2024, my mother has now triumphed over cancer for more than six years and celebrates her 90th birthday. Reflecting on this journey of battling cancer, my heart is filled with gratitude towards St. Stamford Modern Cancer Hospital Guangzhou, not only for extending my mother's life but also for granting me the precious time to accompany her. Thanks to the professionalism and dedication of the doctors, I have been spared the profound regret of "a child's desire to care for their parents being unmet." Since 2019, I have cherished every moment with my mother even more, accompanying her on travels around the world and savoring delicious foods together. Every time I see the smile on her face, I feel that all the efforts are worth it. On this return to the hospital, my mother and the attending physician, Professor Dai Wenyan, made a beautiful pact: to return once more at her centennial celebration, to witness together the miracles of health and life.

Choosing the right hospital means winning hope for life

In the arduous journey of battling cancer, every decision can be the patient's final opportunity to grasp life, making each choice immensely precious. Selecting St. Stamford Modern Cancer Hospital Guangzhou was the most prudent decision in both my mother's and my life. This choice was not only a matter of life and death but also brought us immense fortune. I hope this blessing can be extended to more patients in need, like passing a baton. Currently, I am encouraging my mother to actively participate in the anti-cancer sharing meetings organized by the St. Stamford Modern Cancer Hospital Guangzhou Bangkok International Service Center, to share her experiences with others and serve as a beacon of hope for more patients seeking guidance.
