- Diseases:Kidney cancer
- Treatment programs:Natural therapies + Gene therapy
In March 2011, I began experiencing blood in my urine. Initially, I wasn’t overly concerned because I felt no other discomfort, and my life seemed unaffected; thus, I didn’t pay much attention. It wasn’t until August 2011 that a CT scan revealed a tumor in my left kidney. The doctor suggested surgery, and I was filled with fear upon hearing this news. The risks associated with the procedure made me uneasy, so I declined the doctor’s advice and opted for traditional Chinese medicine instead. Later, the doctor informed me that I might have only 10 months left to live, and my world collapsed in an instant. In 2011, cancer was almost synonymous with a terminal illness, both in Indonesia and globally. Coupled with my existing health issues, such as fatty liver and diabetes, no hospital in Indonesia would accept me after my diagnosis.
Looking back, I was consumed by anxiety and fear almost every day. I kept asking myself, “How much longer can I live?” The shadow of death loomed over me, and I began to panic frequently, feeling that life had suddenly lost its meaning. During that time, I had nearly given up on treatment, quietly waiting for death.
The Arrival of New Hope: St. Stamford Modern Cancer Hospital Guangzhou
By chance, I discovered information about St. Stamford Modern Cancer Hospital Guangzhou. I vividly remember being in a parking lot with my father when we noticed the hospital's details on the back of a newspaper. Although I had already lost hope, my father encouraged me to give it a try, explaining that St. Stamford Modern Cancer Hospital Guangzhou utilized advanced technology to treat cancer. With his insistence and persuasion, I traveled to China for help.
Upon my arrival at St. Stamford Modern Cancer Hospital Guangzhou, the doctors developed a comprehensive treatment plan tailored to my physical condition, incorporating natural therapies and gene therapy to continually enhance my immune function. Based on my progress, the doctors consistently adjusted the treatment plan to achieve better results. I once believed my life would end in the year I was diagnosed, but it didn’t; I have now successfully surpassed the 14-year mark in my battle against cancer.
I am most grateful for my father, who consistently cared for, accompanied, and encouraged me, preventing me from losing hope. The care I received at the hospital also left a profound impression on me, particularly during that special birthday I spent there. The medical staff prepared a birthday cake for me and sang “Happy Birthday” together, making me feel the warmth and love of family. For us cancer patients, the battle against the disease is not only a physical challenge but also a mental one. I can deeply feel that St. Stamford Modern Cancer Hospital Guangzhou not only focuses on the physical health of patients but also values their emotional well-being.
Returning to the Hospital: The Voice of a Cancer Warrior
I would like to extend my heartfelt gratitude to Director Peng Xiaochi from the hospital. I feel incredibly fortunate to have met him; it was his unwavering persistence during my treatment that enabled me to sit here and share my story. I also want to thank all the medical staff who supported me through my toughest days, not only with their medical expertise but also with their love and care. I understand why they are so strict with us; it is because they genuinely strive to provide the best possible care for every patient.
I am very glad to be back at the hospital as a warrior against cancer, returning to my second home. Those who have battled illness for over eight years know what it feels like to be haunted by death; I deeply understand the despair and helplessness that accompany the confrontation with mortality. To patients fighting cancer, I want to say: "The battle against cancer is a long and arduous journey. If you choose to receive treatment at St. Stamford Modern Cancer Hospital Guangzhou, please heed the guidance of the medical staff. They all wish for your swift recovery." Having faced the abyss of death and emerged reborn, I hope that my journey in battling cancer can inspire and empower others, providing them with strength and hope. Let us overcome cancer together and embrace each new dawn of life.
