During my treatment, my wife was always by my side and gave me support and care forever. Today, she still accompanied me back to a familiar place, and our heart was filled with gratitude and joy. In the early stage of treatment, my wife also felt anxious and panicked about my condition, and even worried that my life would be in danger, but the treatment method of St. Stamford Modern Cancer Hospital Guangzhou gave me hope. The doctors here always convey positive beliefs and encourage patients and their families to believe in the possibility of effective tumor control. With the meticulous communication and support of the medical team, my wife's anxiety gradually turned into confidence, accompanying me through every step of treatment. Not only did I receive professional treatment, but I also felt the selfless care of my family, especially my wife. This power has become an important driving force for me to overcome the disease.

Confirmed kidney cancer, embarking on a long road of treatment

My name is Dinh Trong Nghia , I’m from Hanoi, Vietnam, and I’m 52 years old this year. I still remember being diagnosed with kidney cancer during a physical examination in August 2015. However, I felt very scared and worried at the time, like many people who just found out they had cancer. Cancer, the word seems to mean the end of life. However, fate did not stop me, and my story had just begun.

After learning about the condition, I fell into deep confusion. Cancer is so terrible, but I don’t want to give up on my hope of life. So, I began a long journey of seeking treatment. I went to several hospitals in Vietnam for detailed examinations and consultations. Then, I also went to the Singapore Hospital for relevant information at the International Service Center in Hanoi. As a result, every doctor suggested surgical removal of the entire kidney. Although this is a conventional treatment, it’s still difficult for me to accept it. My intuition tells me that although surgical removal of the entire kidney can eliminate tumors, the body will become weak and my life quality will decrease significantly. At that time, my heart was filled with contradictions and uneasiness, as if the road ahead was shrouded in heavy mist.

Turning point, integrating minimally invasive brings hope

Just when I was confused and at a loss, I learned about St. Stamford Modern Cancer Hospital Guangzhou through the Internet. This hospital has an international service center in Hanoi, so I decided to go and find out in person. There, I met many enthusiastic and professional staff who introduced me to the hospital's treatment plan and success stories in detail. Their patience and professionalism dispelled my doubts. Through communication with them, I finally made up my mind to fly to Guangzhou for treatment.

When I stepped into St. Stamford Modern Cancer Hospital Guangzhou, I did not feel the prosperity and size of that big hospital. Instead, the simplicity and warmth of the hospital made me feel not so nervous. The doctors' professional examinations made me feel very at ease. After a comprehensive evaluation, the doctor made the treatment plan for me. I first received two interventional therapies, using embolization technology to cut off the blood supply of the tumor and reduce the toxicity of the tumor. Every step of treatment is very meticulous, and the doctor always patiently explained the significance of treatment to me and gave me psychological comfort and encouragement.

Medical Travel

What shocked me was the procedure. My procedure uses minimally laparoscopic invasive technology rather than traditional open surgery. This treatment not only reduces the trauma to the body but is safer and also retains my kidney function to the greatest extent. With the doctor's superb skills, the tumor was successfully removed, and my kidney was retained. After the treatment, I felt unprecedented relaxation and hope, as if I was reborn.

After the treatment, I continued to receive natural therapy and local chemotherapy to strengthen the immune system and prevent tumor recurrence. At the same time, doctors have added traditional Chinese medicine to local chemotherapy drugs to help regulate my body and reduce side effects. I deeply understand the advantages of integrating traditional Chinese and Western medicine. Every treatment makes me feel one step closer to recovery. The hospital's medical team always keeps communicating with me, giving me confidence and encouragement, and allowing me to persevere. Although I had discomfort and pain during the treatment, I never gave up because it was the treatment of combining traditional Chinese and Western medicine that allowed me to embrace a healthy life again.

With Gratitude, Embracing a New Life After Battling Cancer

9 years passed quickly, every examination showed that I was healthy, and there was no sign of tumor recurrence. I still insist on receiving natural therapy regularly to enhance immunity and prevent cancer recurrence. Looking back on the past 9 years, I know very well that it was because I chose to receive integrated minimally invasive treatment at St. Stamford Modern Cancer Hospital Guangzhou that I’m able to regain hope for health and life.

I’m very grateful to the hospital for inviting me to participate in the "The Come-home Gala of Southeast Asian Anti-Cancer Stars in 2024". As a Vietnamese anti-cancer star volunteer, I feel honored to return to the place that once changed my destiny. I’m grateful to every doctor, nurse, and staff of St. Stamford Modern Cancer Hospital Guangzhou. It’s their professionalism, patience, and meticulous care that helped me defeat cancer. My recovery is not only my victory but also the result of the selfless support of the hospital's MDT team and my family. I hope my story can bring confidence and courage to more patients so that everyone firmly believes that as long as they don't give up, there must be hope!

I also want to say to patients who are experiencing similar difficulties: Cancer is not invincible. Correct treatment methods, positive attitudes, and support from family and medical staff will bring you hope. No matter how difficult the road is, as long as we don’t give up, we will surely usher in the dawn!
